Thanks Fishsniffer (I know there is something subliminal there)!
I plan on being there and consider this Saturday's Demonstration a Peace Protest, not a pacifist-liberal anti-war one.
I am not against all wars in general and we should be pro-war if it is a real People's Liberation War for peace, justice and democracy . People are dying now who could be saved as victims in the unjust wars of Amerikan Occupation and Terror in Iraq and elsewhere upon Mother Earth.
In fact, we need to wage a People's War against the Amerikan Empire and all its evil-doings. To be against war in general is naive and smacks of blind liberal pacifism.
Too many American citizens are complacent in their attitudes towards the on-going foreign wars of the Amerikan Empire and already silent accomplices to the Amerikan Empire's Foreign Unjust Wars.
The fascist rogue Bush Regime tries to arrogantly present itself to the wide world as if it is the voice and definer of Amerikan ethics, morals and humane principles and the big 'decider'. The big mass media lie still works on many of the American masses and should be exposed by humane activists as a big mass lie and fascist mass psychology. The Bush Regime is not in a ethical position to speak of moral values when it is the architect of great evils itself!
It is not a simplistic right-wing vs. left-wing equation. It is a matter of right versus wrong, of good versus evil and humaneness versus modern barbarism.
A given war can be a just war or an unjust war and we should make the key distinction amongst ourselves.
To wage war in terms of protest demonstrations, peaceful mass assemblies,
voter registration drives and community education projects are forms of a Just War. The fact remains that there is no social peace in America or in many parts of a world already at war. The present Mideast Crisis has been on-going for centuries and gotten worse since World War II. A knowledge of real history is a guide to action and must remains to be studied and clarified.
We should all recognize that there is a big Civil War going on in Iraq and not be sheep like and wait for the architects of the whole situation there to define for us what is a civil war, whether of low-intensity or high-intensity as Gen. Pace mentions.
A basic definition of Civil War is when two large groups in a country are waging war against each other and killing each other off by the hundreds.
It ain't brain surgery and it does not take a cultural anthropologist to figure that out. We must be bold enough to define our own connected realities.
Remember: true social power is the dual capacity to define objective reality and 'change it' in a projected manner in a way that impacts on society. Power itself can also be just power or unjust power in its application and penetration.
Many liberal-radical left-wingers fail to appreciate our potential power to radically transform connected reality and all realities are inherently inter-connected.
Ultimately, we seek power to the people, for the people and by the people.
We strive for the mass people's empowerment over the modern state and all governmental institutions. The culmination of social power is the ownership and control of the land and all the viable social institutions thereon, including the armed forces! Nada mas ahora...

I met, shook hands and talked for a minute with Ms. Sheehan last Saturday at the Peace Protest and she told me about her looking forward to going back to Camp Casey. She is really a sweet peace-loving sister, hard worker and should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize!
I will pass this on and hope we have even more people from Sacramento and surrounding areas there this Saturday.
See Ya On the Sabbath/Saturday! Venceremos!

Good Morning!
Here is a reminder about tomorrow's protest, followed by my article
about Cindy Sheehan, who was at last week's demo at 16th and Broadway.
I hope to see you there!
Dan
Dear peace supporters,
This is the last reminder about tomorrow's (Saturday's) large
demonstration at 16th & Broadway from 6:30pm to 9:00pm to protest the continued Israeli and U.S. aggression in the Middle East. Fortunately, we got a nice plug for Saturday's demo in this week's Sacramento News & Review! See http://tinyurl.com/o6tmc
In addition to the outrageous criminal atrocities that Israel has been
inflicting against the Lebanese and Palestinian people, violence in
Iraq is at an all-time high due to the catastrophically inept US occupation.
Please spread the word about tomorrow's protest, and bring your friends, banners, flags, signs, art and instruments to 16th & Broadway!

Cindy Sheehan Announces Camp Casey's Return to Crawford This August
By Dan Bacher
Cindy Sheehan, the Vacaville mother of a fallen soldier who
reinvigorated the anti-war movement in the U.S. last year during her
vigil outside Bush's ranch near Crawford, Texas, is planning another
âCamp Caseyâ this August when George W. Bush takes his annual vacation.
However, there are some changes at Camp Casey this year. Bush
normally takes the entire month of August off, spurring Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez last year to call Bush the âKing of
Vacations.â
However, Bush will cutting short his vacation this year, according to
Sheehan, who appeared in Sacramento on July 29 at an evening anti-war demonstration in 16th and Broadway organized by Steve and Virginia Pearcy.
Sheehan believes that the abbreviated vacation is a result of Bush's
fear of her and the anti-war movement. After Sheehan announced that she would begin Camp Casey on August 16, Bush changed his plans and said that he would be leaving his Crawford ranch on August 14.
Since he didn't visit his ranch at Easter for the first time since
he has been President, we are beginning to believe that he is
frightened of us. It can't be because we are a physical threat to
him: We have proven to be peaceful and non-violent - so it must be
that he is afraid of the truth and too cowardly to, again, face
grieving families and thousands of others who adamantly oppose his
murderous policies,â she stated.
Consequently, Sheehan said she will begin Camp Casey on August 12
âso we can at least share part of the summer with Georgie.â The camp will still run until September 2.
"He's changed his plans, so we've changed ours," she stated at the Sacramento vigil, attended by around 300 people.
Another difference between this year's Camp Casey and last year's is
that Sheehan has purchased 5 acres of land in Crawford, Texas near
the Crawford Peace House with some of the insurance money she
received as a result of her son, Casey, dying in combat in Iraq. Camp
Casey activists will be both present in the âditchâ where they
were protesting last year and the new property, according to Sheehan.
"Half of the property is woodland and the other half is pasture,"
said Sheehan. "It's a beautiful and peaceful spot to locate Camp
Casey."
She will keep Camp Casey at the new property until two things happen - the US withdraws from Iraq and Bush leaves office. When both of those things transpire, she will donate the property to the City of Crawford to use for a peace park in honor of her son.
"GW is a war criminal," said Sheehan. âHe lied to the public. He lied to my son. I don't want to see any more Cindy Sheehans created in this country. The war has to stop."
Sheehan began her protest in Crawford last year after her repeated
requests to meet with Bush were spurned. She doesn't expect Bush to
change his mind and meet with her as a result of this year's
protest. "He's too cowardly to meet with me," she said.
The Sacramento vigil protested the occupations of Iraq, Afghanistan,
Palestine and Lebanon, as well as the continued U.S. and Israeli
aggression in the Middle East. The Israeli bombardment of Lebanon and the massive death toll of innocent civilians was on everybody's
minds, including Sheehan's, during the protest.
"Israeli has the right to defend itself, but that doesn't including
killing innocent people like it is doing in Lebanon and Gaza now.
Somebody has to say no to the killing and stop this war!" she said.
Although the corporate media has portrayed Hezbollah as starting the
conflict by capturing (âkidnappingâ in many reports) two Israeli
soldiers, Sheehan pointed out that the two soldiers were actually
captured on Lebanese soil.
Many signs at the vigil displayed slogans protesting the Israeli
invasion of Lebanon, including âFree Palestine: No Aid to
Israel,â âImpeach AIPAC,â and âOccupation Is A Crime, From Iraq to Palestine.â Activists came from a diverse array of groups, such as the Sacramento Coalition Against the War, Sacramento For Democracy, Code Pink, Voluntarios de La Communidad, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Zapatista Solidarity Committee and the Central America Action Committee.
Cindy Sheehan has been on an "open-ended hunger strike" since July 4 to urge the Bush administration to bring troops home from Iraq. The
fast is organized by Code Pink and Gold Star Families for Peace
"We hope the fast will galvanize public attention, invigorate the
peace movement, build pressure on elected officials, and get our
troops back home," Sheehan said in a statement before starting the fast.
If you're interested in going to Camp Casey to join in the protest
and support activities, please contact Gold Star Families for Peace
