The original concept of the HumanE Liberation Party {HELP} was launched via Internet Power after midnight on the morning of January 1, 2001 in Sacramento, California simply by posting its Survival Platform for all the world to see via Internet Power. One of my first responses was from Bobby Seale who simply wrote: "Right on time!".

At the time the ideal was to keep the concept alive, stay alive and give its seeds time to grow.

At the time, I was staying at a transitional program for homeless addicts in recovery at what is called Mather Community Campus (MCC). After I left MCC, due to some personal traumas and weaknesses, I had a couple of severe relapses back in to my alcoholism. Drug addiction, including alcohol, has been the downfall of many righteous comrades and we must be on guard against it and see continued progressive recovery as part of our struggle, especially among the youth who are our future leaders. Thus, I myself had to arrest my alcohol addiction, work on my character defects and I have done so just for today.

HELP was consciously founded upon our basic 5 – Point Survival Platform. Our Survival Platform remains the central focal point of our Party. To paraphrase Brother Huey, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THE PARTY:

#1. We demand our basic humane needs for the survival of our species: nutritional food, proper clothing, decent shelter, wholistic medicine and quality education for our present welfare and future success in the New Millennium.

#2. We demand complete employment for our natural energies, relevant job training or a guaranteed income for our continued life existence as humane beings in order to work in decent positions as functional mature adults.

#3. We demand worldwide socialist democracy with proportional representation: wherein the majority rules, protects minorities and cares for all based upon 'one human being, one legitimate vote' in fair, free and open monitored elections.

#4. We demand equal respect for all humane rights: no matter the economic class, blood race, gender sex, national identity, cultural origin or personal orientation and the conscientious resolution of violations against the humane rights of all indigenous native tribes.

#5. We demand true Peace on Earth and an immediate end to all evil unjust wars, regional conflicts and territorial disputes in conjunction with the total elimination of all Weapons of Mass-Destruction weapons by any and all means mandatory.

Our Party’s Survival Platform is basic, simple and generic as it is based upon the people’s basic survival needs with a vision for a future socialist democracy. It is a survival platform, not a complete liberation program, but a survival program pending socialist revolution.

Our Survival Platform sticks to the basic needs of the people: food, clothing, shelter, medical care and quality education. The basics forever remain the basics. Let us not split hairs over ideology and ‘–isms’ as many of our people go hungry, are homeless and suffering in the misery of poverty now. Thus, the HELP Survival Platform is the essence of what this dream of ours is all about.

Liberation is a living process of social change that develops as a dynamic movement in stages, phases and periods, not a set of grand final conclusions.

We speak of basic survival for us to stay alive and succeed in the creation of a projected democratic socialist revolution. They duty of the revolutionary is to make the revolution. If we do not survive as a species there will be no revolution of any kind.

HELP and the Black Panther Party Original Vision:

The concept of our HELP 5-Point Survival Platform came from the original 10-Point Survival Platform of the Black Panther Party {BPP} which was founded in October 1966 in Oakland, California by the now fallen Minister of Defense Huey P. Newton and its former Chairman Bobby Seale. In its time, the BPP was the most advanced revolutionary vanguard party in Amerika in terms of its social practice, its survival programs and its ideology {system of analysis}, especially for the Black Liberation Movement.

The history of the BPP has given us great crucial lessons we should learn from and have already been paid for by the blood, sweat and tears of its fallen comrades. We will avoid many major pitfalls if we learn from past mistakes to prevent future ones. We should keep in mind these key lessons, including the responsibility of Party leadership to stay sober, keep straight and spiritually centered at all times, in order to handle both internal and external contradictions.

Recall: “The original vision of the Black Panther Party was to serve the needs of the oppressed people in our communities and defend them against their oppressors. When the Party was initiated we knew that these goals would raise the consciousness of the people and motivate them to move more firmly for their total liberation.”

The BPP established Community Survival Programs, such as, the Free Breakfast Program for Children, Free Legal and Medical Clinics and once had Chapters across the nation with hundreds of daily active members. After a series of fascist attacks, it eventually centralized its activities by building up a Base of Operations in Oakland, California. The strategic thinking of the BPP was to unify the Black community around its basic survival programs so that the community would identify with the Party’s basic survival programs, protect them when they were attacked by the oppressors and so heighten the contradictions between the Black community and its oppressors.

In theory, if the Party was militarily repressed and unable to operate aboveground, then, having exhausted all legal peaceful methods of struggle, it would be forced underground and be able to transform itself into a Liberation Army, launch urban guerrilla warfare by the initiation of ‘armed focos’ or guerrilla units and eventually foment armed urban uprisings throughout the United States. Eventually, the original BPP drowned in a sea of both internal and external contradictions, especially after repression of the fascist F.B.I. -COINTELPRO Program that was designed to disrupt, discredit and destroy the Black Panther Party, thus, in the late 70’s the BPP faded out and melted back into Amerika’s jungles.

The teachings of Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, the writings of Comandante Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara and other revolutionary literature also helped us in the formulation of the concept of HELP, but the direct experiences of the Black Panther Party, including the writings of its General Field Marshal George L. Jackson, have been our major influence.

At present, there is no strong nationwide vanguard party inside the United States and this is a great weakness of the People's Liberation Movement. We believe there will be no single vanguard party. Instead, there is buildng a loose coalition of vanguard elements that it is hoped will get more solidified as time goes by.
"Of course, the revolution has failed. Fascism has temporarily succeeded under the guise of reform. The only way we can destroy it is to refuse to compromise with the enemy state and its ruling class. Compromises wre mde i the thirties, the forties, the fifties. The old vanguard parties made gross strategic and tactical errors."

We must remember that when revolution fails or there is a major setback for the liberation movement that it is the fault of the leadership of the vanguard elements, not the people! We cannot blame our enemies because evil will remain evil until it is eradicated. We must take responsibility for the advance of our own liberation efforts. We will remain open to new ideas and ideals as we know that social circumstances change in time, place and situation. No one, no matter how puffed up, has the corner on the truth in relation to revolutionary theory and its praxis.

At present, the HumanE Liberation Party is a small local group designed to be a Vanguard Education Party on the local level with global implications, not a regular party participating in electoral politics. It is hoped that there will continue to be other vanguard elements in other cities, towns and rural areas that will help keep alive the desire for total liberation by the repressed masses.

We will have to stay alive, search out for other allies and be bold in all our actions and statements. Understand that liberation is a process and in the process of bringing about our liberation we ourselvs muse change, develop and evolve in our spiritual growth as humane beings. Whenever we can, wherever we go and whatever we do, we must stand up for the truth or fall in infamy.

We have not marched so far to become worse than the evil monsters we aim to replace! Thus, we must be honest, open and willing to change in our relations.

Seize the Time!
